Hello, wild adventurers! I’m so excited to share another amazing podcast episode filled with juicy tips on how to reach your photography business goals in 2024!
If you didn’t kick off your year with a master plan, don’t worry – the adventure has just begun! As a photographer turned coach, I’m here to guide you through making 2024 your most successful year yet, leading to a calendar fully booked with dreamy photography bookings.
First things first, I’d like you to start by reflecting on 2023. Think about everything that worked out for you, made you happy and set your soul on fire. Was it that one connection call? Maybe that specific elopement or engagement session? Maybe it was a great post that brought you tons of leads? Identify the common threads that worked and repurpose them.
Equally important, let’s acknowledge what didn’t work. Were there limiting beliefs, activities that drained your resources, or efforts that held you back? Take a moment to journal these thoughts!
Another great thing for you to review are KPIs (Key Performance Indicators). These are actual numbers you can measure to see what performed well and what didn’t. Assess your ads, conversions, and ROI. Maybe you can see patterns there!
Personally I track and review my KPIs every single week to see which ads are performing best for my business, checking if my funnels are still doing the heavy lifting among other things!
This process is about understanding where to channel your energy and resources effectively.
This will be another reflection exercise. What makes you unique? What makes you different than all the other photographers? There definitely is something and you must use it to your advantage! Authentic branding is becoming more and more important, and it’s going to be huge this year too!
Embrace your individuality – whether it’s your love for the outdoors or a specific artistic style. Reflect on how your values align with those of your clients. It’s amazing to attract clients who resonate with you and your values!
Consistency is SO important for your personal and business growth. It’s easy to start the year with a burst of energy, only to see it fizzle out.
Set realistic goals, break them into manageable tasks, and most importantly, be consistent. Whether it’s posting two blogs per month instead of four, or regularly updating your portfolio, consistency helps in organically growing your audience and establishing your presence in the photography world.
Gone are the days when posting on Instagram alone could guarantee bookings. As a seasoned photography coach, I see this all the time with my clients – consistent bookings require more than just posting on Instagram.
Instagram is great, don’t get me wrong, it helps you showcase your brand, your BTS processes, and connect with your audience on a personal level. However, it’s not as good at generating leads.
If you have a marketing budget, I recommend investing in Meta Ads. These are what really help me attract and generate leads. If you don’t have the budget to put behind ads, then there are other things you can do (and I teach all of this in my coaching program in detail). What you can do is use your time to generate the results, for example, – offer free shoots, do model calls, do an ethical giveaway.
However, keep in mind that offering free services is better than cheap ones that can devalue your brand!
Another great way to bring in leads is by creating an irresistible lead magnet, and that’s a topic I discuss in another blog and podcast episode. You can check it out here!
The most challenging part for creatives is often the strategy. You have big, adventurous ideas, but how will you implement them? Develop marketing and lead generation strategies that make sense for you. Consider implementing workflows and systems that support your creativity.
For example, if you want to include Pinterest in your marketing strategy and you want to pin 3 times per day – use an app like Tailwind (I’m not an affiliate; it’s just a tool I use!) to streamline the process.
When you’re more consistent at bringing in leads and having less time, you can then streamline the process even more by outsourcing this to a VA.
